If your child wants to take tap or jazz dance she/he must also take a ballet class which now makes the fee upwards of $95.00 per month. Classes offered through City Recreation/Cultural Arts break down to around $25.00 per month and you are only required to take the class that your child chooses, nothing more. CLICK Read More..
Studios charge a registration fee of $25.00 or $30.00, have you sign a one year contract and automatically debit or credit your card each month. City classes charge only for the class you will be taking, no contract, no additional fees. Studios have a specific dress code which you must adhere to and additional costume requirements for recitals. City Recreation and Cultural Arts classes have no specific color or style requirements for attire and allow you to make your own choices. Studios are in one specific city. City classes are held in YOUR city making it easy for you to commute. And lastly, studios sometimes employ teenage or less experienced instructors to teach younger children. Instructors through Arts and Recreation are qualified dedicated professionals with many years of experience working with children.
The bottom line: If your child shows an interest seek out a class that works into your schedule in the city you choose, has an experienced, nurturing instructor, has a fee schedule and clothing requirement that keeps your budget in mind and allows your child to perform at city functions throughout the year without a huge costume investment.
